Childproofing Your Home For Company
Tuesday, July 27th, 2010People getting ready to receive company in their home have lots of things to consider. If you are without children, and will have a child in your home, then it takes a little extra effort. By taking the initiative to do some temporary childproofing you will save your self and your visitors a considerable amount of stress.
The first thought that often comes to mind is covering the electrical outlets. Everyone has a horrifying picture in their mind of a small child electrocuting himself by sticking a curious finger into the outlet. However, truth be told this rarely happens, and the outlet covers sometimes only serve to draw the attention of the toddler or infant.
Be sure to carefully inspect your kitchen. If you have a knife set that you keep in a drawer, you will want to temporarily relocate it. Kitchens do tend to hold a particular interest with small children. There are always small, strange looking items for them to play with. It would be quite normal for a child to wander around and begin exploring various drawers and cabinets.
Other items in your kitchen that you will want to move include a Kitchen Aid hand mixer. It does not take much for a child to seriously harm himself by exploring small appliances such as these. You could get a small tote and keep these items in it, and out of the way, during the visit.
If you have a knife block set that sits on your countertop you will not need to relocate it. Simply make sure that it is sitting back against the wall, and that no part of it could possibly be reached by the child. These are generally a wonderful choice to keep around when there are children in the house.
Breakables such as trinkets or figurines that are down low will likely also need to be moved, unless they are in a curio cabinet or something similar. Should anything become broken it will only make everyone feel bad. It is better to avoid that scenario by moving them for the duration of the visit.
While it may seem like overkill, taking some of these precautions is simply part of being a good host. No matter who you have visiting, you would take the time to get your home ready to receive your guests. This is no different, it just takes a little different mindset.

This might mean relaxing in the backyard after work or maybe having a BBQ and eating al fresco. Or you may have bigger plans, like a family get together or a children’s birthday party planned. Whatever your plans may be, keeping the youngsters amused and on the go might figure highly on your list. One way to do this is to obtain an inflatable bounce house or bouncer.

Bounce houses are in essence air filled structures that youngsters (and adults) can play on. They are an opportunity for kids to burn up all that limitless energy they seem to have. They appear to have great enjoyment and their parents enjoy watching them have a good time too.
The normal bounce house is just for jumping. This type usually look like a castle thus the name jumping castle or bouncy castle. They have a big central jumping area that is supported by 4 inflated columns that may have mock-up crenellations, spires or pointed roofs. These columns give the inflatable the design of a castle. Additional additions might consist of an entry that appears like a castle door or portcullis. A few also have a splash or paddle pool in the front of the bouncer that’s supposed to be a moat.
I’m unsure why the notion of a castle is so common in inflatable bouncers although I assume the concept is to spark the imagination of the kids that see it. Young children seem to be as fascinated by knights, princesses, suits of armor, swords and castles as they are about dinosaurs so I guess this is the idea behind it.
With this said, the manufacturers of bounce houses have branched out to include numerous other designs in bouncers and things to do on them.
These are sometimes called inflatable activity centers or adventure parks. They don’t look like castles and their design is often governed by the type of things that come with them. As an example, some bouncers have slides and climbing walls on them. Others will have tunnels to crawl through. Plus others can be a mix of paddle pool and jumping area (or a wet and dry inflatable).
You can rent these types of products or buy them. In many cases, renting one unit for a day can cost the same as buying one for yourself. Rented ones can be larger plus you do not have to stress about them getting a hole. Bought ones are still a good size dependant upon the sort you select and to be honest, they’re not that hard to set up and seem reasonably long-lasting.

Free Soccer Drills:Killer Tips On Heading
Sunday, July 25th, 2010If you are like me, you probably know that in performing free soccer drills, dribbling a soccer ball is one of the most thrilling aspects of any soccer game. One of the basic faults that players make when dribbling a soccer ball is that they focus more on the ball and don’t know what is happening around them.
Let me share with you one drill that has been used over and over again in soccer practice to teach young players how to dribble a soccer ball because it is a lot of fun. The drill teaches the players to seek and make the maximum utilization of space.
The players should learn to be aware of their surrounding while having the ball at their feet; this is a major challenge for most soccer coaches.
This is one drill that is often used to teach players to keep their heads up while dribbling, and it has always been fun for the players along with teaching valuable skills.
This drill makes the player to get a feel of the ball and the space around it so that they can use the space rather mundane soccer exercises which makes the player go around the cones.
1. Begin by marking out a square of about 20 yards by 20 yards (the size of the square will depend upon the number of players, and their age).
2.Divide the players into two halves and make players stand on one side of the square with the ball. These players are named as the attackers.
3.The square is covered by the other half of the players by spreading out. This half of the players is identified by the name Crab.
4.The hands are used by the crabs to support themselves after sitting down. These players can’t use any other means to walk around other than hands and feet only.
Apart from teaching a lot of important tricks these free soccer drills can be a lot of fun.
The players dribble the ball across the field and stop the ball when the coach gives the whistle. The attackers are attacked by “the crabs” and when they do so, the attackers are called the Crab. The game comes to a conclusion only when one Attacker is left and he is declared as the winner.
The Crab learns the importance of teamwork by refusing space to the attackers and tries to take the ball away from them; it’s really a win-win situation in soccer coaching.
This is the simple and yet effective way of teaching the young players to dribble the ball with their heads up, to cross the defenders and avoid bumping into each other.
The final inference is every player has the ability to be more alert, to react quickly and to run faster. The young players will accelerate better and make decision faster upon taking these free soccer drills.

After all, youth soccer coaching is a dynamic and a difficult job and it is not easy to keep the players motivated to deliver under extreme pressure.
I’ll share 5 matchless tips that can never go wrong when it comes to enhancing your team’s performance.
1. Your plans should be comprehensive: Make complete and methodical plans if you wish to get the desired results in coaching. Plan meetings with the players before you finalize the team goals and objectives, and take their viewpoints also into consideration. Results not achieved within the decided timelines can disrupt your progress.
After finalizing the plan, do not deviate from it except for making a few changes, if needed. Even the best plans need modifications due to unanticipated situations.
2. Practice sessions should be a whole lot of fun: Boring and repetitive training drills are bound to bring down the enthusiasm of young players when performed regularly. You can introduce these in a variety of ways. For example: keep a few extra minutes for players after practice and have them perform a fun activity of a game that is fun and helps develop a bonding between them.
3. Both freedom and discipline should complement one another: A coach should always give priority to discipline in the team. But, what is important to understand is that freedom is also as important for the kids to feel strongly towards discipline. You must always understand the importance of freedom and relaxation while teaching soccer.
Permit players some time for them to indulge, relax, or simply unwind. When it comes to how to coach soccer, it may also be a good idea to take them out on a picnic.
4. Be Supportive and tolerant: Always inspire the team to experiment on new things and when they make mistakes, be tolerant. Keep their activities under check. If your intervention is necessary because the situation is out of control, correct it but without scolding the kids.
Know that when you punish, the players get distraught while being compassionate and encouraging leads to good ideas and positive energy.
5. Balance things: It is in training sessions that kids get to know about their soccer skills and inherent talent. It is well known that when we talk of a team, there are bound to be players of different calibers; the good, bad, and worst. It is a part of your job to make sure that the best players take it upon themselves to improve the performance of the poor ones.
Make the best and bad players pals so that they share tips and techniques while in a session and also after it. It is crucial that you do not make any sort of comparison between the players ever.
